Biography

I am originally from nearby Tooting and have lived in South-West London for over three decades. My educational path has been an unconventional one. I took a full-time BA at Birkbeck College (University of London) in History where I graduated with first class honours in 2014. Wanting to further my studies and experience a very different academic environment, I read an MPhil in Modern European History at Cambridge straight after.

My time at these two institutions convinced me that a career in education was my calling and, after experiencing many different aspects of England’s educational sector, I was able to become a full-time professional tutor by 2017. By this point, I came to realise that it was incumbent on me to broaden my knowledge with respect to the variety of subjects that are covered at schools. This led me to take a genuinely original part-time Master’s at Oxford in Literature and Arts, which I completed in 2020.

My several years as a full-time tutor has given me a breadth and depth of experience that was only possible by dedicating myself to this as a career rather than as a stop-gap between jobs. It has given me the freedom to teach in a way that would be almost impossible at any school; and a healthy amount of spare time to cultivate myself as an educator. It has also given me a strong sense of what I am happiest tutoring: entrance examinations and A-Levels. Please see the testimonials for the views of past clients. I very much hope that you will be as happy as them by what I can offer.
